The Central Database of Shoah Victims' Names
The Names Database is an international undertaking led by Yad Vashem, from Jerusalem . It is the attempt to reconstruct the names and life stories of all the Jews who perished in the Shoah. Taken primarily from Pages of Testimony filled out by family members and friends, then scanned in over the course of several years, an estimated three million Jews are commemorated in the database. A great deal of work went into making these archives searchable.
The Stories Behind the Names: a Journey of Discovery
"The Stories Behind the Names: a Journey of Discovery" uses Pages of Testimony to teach about some of the people who were murdered in the Holocaust. The staff at the International School for Holocaust Studies used Yad Vashem's vast educational databases to analyze and expand on the biographical details that appear on Pages of Testimony. They transformed the seemingly dry facts on the Pages of Testimony into stories with immense educational value.
Echoes and Reflections
Echoes and Reflections is a multimedia curriculum on the Holocaust developed by the ADL, the Shoah Foundation and Yad Vashem. The curriculum gives high school teachers a comprehensive tool box for teaching about the Holocaust. Subjects include antisemitism, Nazi German, the ghettos, The "Final Solution," and several others.
