educational resources and offerings at the Weinberg Center for Holocaust Education of The Breman
|
The Breman is committed to serving students and teachers from a broad spectrum of schools. We offer guided class visits, pre- and post-visit curriculum materials, classroom speakers, library resources including ready-to-use lesson plan packs, and professional development workshops for educators and lifelong learners. All our programs meet Georgia Quality Core Curriculum Standards (QCCS).
The Breman and the Weinberg Center also provide informal training opportunities for teachers who are interested in learning more about incorporating Holocaust history or Jewish heritage and ideas into their curriculum. The Museum also offers class sets of activities on the topic of Atlanta history for use in your classroom.
In addition to the scheduled teacher-training events, staff development workshops can be arranged for your school or district. Individual teachers are also welcome to consult with us about specific areas of need.
For more information, please contact Dr. Liliane Kshensky Baxter, Director of the Weinberg Center, at 404-870-1872 or by e-mail at lbaxter@thebreman.org.

The Legacy Project, a multimedia program accessed through four computer work stations in the New Lives section of our core gallery, Absence of Humanity: The Holocaust Years, is a resource for students who want to learn about the lives and experiences of survivors who made Atlanta their home after the war. Students can view portions of video interviews of survivors, explore family photograph "albums" and peruse relevant documents.
Interactive maps of Europe provide historical information about the home countries of local survivors and the fate of Jewish populations during the Second World War. Narratives chronicle the events and conditions endured in ghettos and camps in Europe, Ukraine, and Russia.
