Eugene Halpert grew up in Munkacs, (Mukachevo) Czechoslovakia, which soon came under Hungarian rules, and was forced to live in the Munkacs and the Warsaw ghettos. Eugene survived Allach, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Mittergars, and Muhldorf, a sub-camp of Dachau. After the war, Eugene emigrated to America and came here to Atlanta to work with the Gross brothers in their business.
