Jewish Genealogical Society of Georgia Meeting Details

Daniel Horowitz Garcia will be presenting for this JGSG Meeting. Since 2014 Daniel has been the regional manager of StoryCorps in Atlanta. StoryCorps is a national media organization that helps people record, preserve, and share their life stories. He is a historian specializing in oral history. Before getting his Masters in History Daniel worked in the nonprofit field. He has 20 years' experience working on labor, environmental, criminal justice, and anti-poverty issues.



Free for Members. Non-Members, participation in this event is included in the cost of general museum admission.

From the creation of the music itself to dawning of the modern music business, this program examines the important, prolific and complicated relationship between these two minorities who, together, made American music "American."

    The Afro-Semitic Experience

    The Afro-Semitic Experience is a band that offers a powerful and poetic musical experience that celebrates diversity, promotes social justice, and inspires hope and joy. They blend Jewish and African-American music to create a dynamic and energizing sound. The group was founded in 1998 by pianist and composer Warren Byrd and bassist David Chevan and has since expanded to include a diverse group of talented musicians.
