Experience History at its Source!

Plunge into historic Jewish Atlanta with exclusive tours of some of the city's most significant sites! Join us as we explore The Temple. Founded in 1867, the Temple is Atlanta's oldest synagogue and one of the most historic Jewish religious institutions in America. Travel 150 years through its history to discover how the Temple and its community have changed and grown with time. Uncover a past forged by a commitment to both Jewish life and social justice work that continues to inspire and shape the city of Atlanta as a whole.

The tour will take place at The Temple, located at 1589 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta, GA 30309, starting at 10:00 AM.

  • 10-10:30am: Welcome and Nosh
  • 10:30-11:30: Tour

      Opening Event - Henri Dauman: Looking Up

      Henri Dauman is a Holocaust survivor and self-taught photographer who produced some of the most memorable covers for LIFE, Time and Newsweek Magazines. We are honored to have Henri Dauman with us for our special Opening Event. He will share about his journey – from his tragic childhood in the French Countryside during WWII, to the creative and emotional adventure that led to his photographic success. Q & A will follow.

      Plunge into historic Jewish Atlanta with exclusive tours of some of the city's most significant sites! Join us as we explore Historic Oakland Cemetery. Amidst a backdrop of gardens, sculptures, and final resting places for many of Atlanta’s most notable citizens, explore the history, burial customs, and symbolism found throughout the Jewish Grounds of this powerful city landmark. Hear the fascinating stories of life and persistence as waves of Jewish immigrants entered and adapted to the culture of Victorian America.
