Make-A-Monster Monday: Lesson 2

Monstrously Fun Arts & Crafts

Join us in the Where the Wild Things Are exhibition for a series of eight art lessons designed for children ages 3-6. In Lesson 2 we will learn how to draw and assemble shapes to make monsters. We will learn about repurposing objects into art and sustainability using exhibitSEED guidelines.

Drop in any time between 10 AM and 12 Noon to participate in this open studio session.


Members: FREE

Non-Members: 2 Kids FREE with each $12 adult admission ticket (10 AM - 12 Noon only)

Future Sessions:

July 11 - Lesson 3: Drawing light and dark on top of shapes, which will be glued together for a mini-monster
July 18 - Lesson 4: Drawing monsters that have fur and scale textures
July 25 - Lesson 5: Using crayons to add light and shade and color to make a mini-monster
August 1 - Lesson 6: Using color pastels to create an impressionistic monster
August 8 - Lesson 7: Scratchboard drawings from scratch: Using oil pastel art, students scratch out a monster
August 15 - Lesson 8: 3-D Monsters: using past techniques, just add flour and water to make a monster model

    The Story Never Told: The Fate of Iraq’s Jews

    Maurice Shohet will discuss the history of Iraq’s Jewish community, exploring its decline from a once thriving community to today’s reality of a dispersed, diaspora existence. In addition, as a Jewish Iraqi refugee himself, he will share personal anecdotes related to the history of Jews in Iraq.

    Panel Discussion with the Creators of "Out of Darkness: Two Remain"

    Join The Atlanta Opera and The Breman Museum for a free discussion with the internationally acclaimed creators of Out of Darkness: Two Remain. The panel features composer Jake Heggie, librettist Gene Scheer, and the original commissioner of the opera, Mina Miller, from the Seattle based organization Music of Remembrance.
