ELI Talks warmly invites you to an evening of inspired Jewish ideas with our Fall 2017 ELI Speaker Cohort sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta September 5, 6, and 7 at the Breman Museum in Atlanta.

Enjoy a reception at 6:00 PM while you shmooze with folks from across the city and the speakers themselves. Taping will begin at 7:00 PM--please be prompt as no late admissions will be permitted!

    18 Voices: A Liberation Day Reading Of Young Writers’ Diaries From The Holocaust

    More than one million Jewish children were killed during the Holocaust and countless others survived. Some, like Anne Frank, kept diaries in which they confided their hopes, fears, and experiences. Join us for a special virtual reading of excerpts from these diaries, narrated by Liev Schreiber, and featuring readings from Mayim Bialik, Mandy Gonzalez, Daniel Kahn, Adam Kantor, Telly Leung, Caissie Levy, Stephanie Lynn Mason, Zalmen Mlotek, Amit Rahav, Eleanor Reissa, Yelena Schmulenson, Alexandra Silber, Abby Stein, Danny Strong, and Michael Zegen.

    Atlanta Jewish History Talks: The Case of Leo Frank

    Join Steve Oney, the foremost historian on the Leo Frank case, as he discusses one of the most infamous cases of Antisemetism in America and a pivotal moment in Atlanta’s Jewish history. The class will be moderated by founding archivist of The Breman, Sandra Berman, who devoted her career to collecting original historic items from the case and curated an in-depth exhibition that traveled around the country.

    Bearing Witness: Unforgettable Stories from the Holocaust

    Manuela and her family survived the Holocaust hiding in Vichy France. Her story honors the “conspiracy of goodness” that saved them -- from Parisian neighbors and friends, to members of the Resistance, to the grace of villagers who never revealed their whereabouts despite great danger to themselves.

    Atlanta Jewish History Talks: The Activism of Jewish Women

    Join esteemed historians Mark Bauman, Leonard Rogoff, and Diane Vecchio as they discuss the legacy of Jewish women’s activism in Atlanta and the region. Hear these three experts examine suffragettes and the evolving role of women in Jewish social services.
