Featured Workshop

Illustration: Judged by a Cover
With Gregory Christie

The featured workshop on April 26th is a two hour class for both beginners and the experienced cartoonist or illustrator. Students will follow a systematic visual thought process to create a children’s book cover. The session will begin with an intensive segment on basic design, then followed by a step by step drawing exercise to create characters within their environment. The illustrations will then be paired with a title to create a the look and feel of real cover-art. Students will be encouraged to use Sendak’s sensibilities as a means to explore a variety of mediums. All needed materials are included in the price of the workshop. Participation in this workshop is $25 for non-members and $18 for members (includes museum admission for the day), and the number of participants will be capped at 25 individuals.
