Newly Uncovered Letters Reveal Anne Frank's Father's Desperate Attempts to Leave Holland

Join us for a special book talk with president of the Straus Historical Society and author Joan Adler about her latest work For Sake of the Children: The Letters Between Otto Frank and Nathan Straus Jr., which explores the relationship between University of Heidelberg roommates and lifelong friends, Otto Frank and Nathan Straus Jr., the son of the Macy's department store's founder. The letters revealed for the first time that Otto Frank, diarist Anne’s father, tried desperately to get his family out of war torn Holland in 1941. Fifteen months later, the family went into hiding.

Event is included in regular admission to the museum. Members are FREE.

About Joan Adler:

Joan Adler founded the Straus Historical Society in 1998 and is currently the organization’s Executive Director. She successfully saved the Straus family papers from the abandoned Macy’s store in New York City and has since made them available to the public.
