Summary/Abstract:  Murray Stein is a Rome, Georgia, dentist who married Louise Stock.  The Stock family was among the earlier settlers to Rome.  The collection consists of membership records from Rodeph Sholom Congregation, newspaper articles on various subjects including the history of Jewish life in Rome, and documents relating to the attempt of Casper Stock to bring his cousin Estera Fajga Syskind to America, 1939-1941.

Biographical/Historical Note Dr. Murray, a native of Savannah, received his DDS from Northwestern University.  He also attended Georgia School of Technology and the University of Georgia.  During World War II, Dr. Stein served with the corps of engineers.  He married Miss Louise Stock, from Rome, Georgia.

Scope and Content Researchers studying the Murray Stein Family Papers will gain insight into Jewish life in Georgia. All material is arranged alphabetically by subject and chronologically within each folder.
