Biographical/Historical Note:  Robert Travis served as president of a revitalized Zionist District of Atlanta from 1937 to 1939. Under the prodding and by galvanizing the resources of like-minded Zionist leaders in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Mississippi, the Southeastern Zionist Region was formed in 1938 with Jake Felt as its first as its first president. On the subject of Zionism he was a well-rounded scholar, having studied and absorbed the teaching s of the greatest writers and acitvists of the movement as well as the lessons of Jewish history. He often contributed to editorials in the local newspapers and wrote extensively on the topic of Zionism.

Scope and Content:  Researchers studying the Jana Felt Zwerner Family Papers will gain insight into the Zionist movement in Atlanta, Georgia. The papers are arranged in alphabetical order by subject and chronologically within each folder.
