Arrangement: The papers are arranged in alphabetical order by subject and chronologically within each folder.

Biographical/Historical Note:  Harold was a native of Milledgeville, Georgia. Mr. Goodrich graduated from Georgia Military Jr. College and received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia after serving his country in World War II. Mr. Goodrich was a member of Congregation Sha’ Arey Israel Synagogue in Macon. He was a leader of Explorer Scout Troop 187, a member of the Kiwanis and Milledgeville Jaycees. He was the owner of Harrold’s ready to wear shop in Milledgeville for over 62 years in which time the business became an institution for the downtown area. He served on the Downtown Development Authority before it became a part of MainStreet/DDA. He served on the Milledgeville Zoning Board for 13 years, Mr. Goodrich proudly served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Georgia Military College for 25 years, including during challenging times. He recently was given the special Service Award in recognition by GMC for his enduring loyalty to the school. He was a designated Board Member Emeritus. Mr. Goodrich also served on the Milledgeville/Baldwin County Board of the Chamber of Commerce and served as President of the Downtown Merchants Association.

Mr. Goodrich married Nathalie Levy or Atlanta, Georgia, and they had two children, Beth and Robert.

Scope and Content: Researchers will gain insight into Jewish life and businesses in rural Georgia. The papers consist of correspondence, newspaper articles, business ledgers, receipt records.
