Biographical/Historical Note: Mr. Jacobson was a Lithuanian who settled in Waycross, Georgia, in 1923. He founded and operated Jacobson Department Store. He was highly active in the Jewish community in Waycross. He was past president and member of the board of trustees of the center and member of B’nai B’rith. He was also heavily involved in civic life as a member of the Kiwanis Club, a veteran of World War I and member of the Post 10 of the American Legion, the VFW, the Waycross Elk’s Club and the Waycross-Ware County Chamber of Commerce. He also created the Morris Jacobson Brotherhood Award, which was presented annually to an outstanding citizen of Waycross.
