Lunchtime Culture 2019 - Chanukah

Event Details

Presented by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at the Breman Museum (1440 Spring St NW) Come and experience a specially curated program by The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at the historic Breman Museum! Audience members can visit the museum to learn about pivotal moments in Jewish history while also enjoying the music of Hanukkah and other selections by Jewish composers.

Overview

The Breman Museum, Atlanta Botanical Garden, Alliance Theater, and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra are partnering to bring the Midtown community something new between 12:30 and 1 p.m. on the third Friday of each month The program pairs two of the institutions for a conversation, performance, or tour experience from a new perspective. Each lunchtime program is FREE, and lasts approximately 30 minutes with time to explore the venue after the program. Lunch is not included with programs. Please visit Midtown dining options near each venue.

    Historic Jewish Atlanta Tour- Oakland Cemetery

    THIS TOUR IS SOLD-OUT Plunge into the history of Jewish Atlanta as we explore Historic Oakland Cemetery. Amidst Victorian gardens and marble and granite sculptures, we will walk through the history, burial customs, and symbolism found throughout the Jewish grounds of this powerful city landmark. Founded in 1850, Oakland Cemetery is the final resting place for more than 70,000 people, including many of Atlanta’s most notable citizens. It is also home to three separate Jewish burial sections – including the second oldest Jewish burial ground in Georgia. Come enjoy a stroll around one of Atlanta’s most beautiful public parks, while we discuss some fascinating stories of the individual lives and religious organizations that enabled the city’s Jewish community to persist and flourish.
