Featured Workshop

Illustration: Judged by a Cover
With Gregory Christie

The featured workshop on April 26th is a two hour class for both beginners and the experienced cartoonist or illustrator. Students will follow a systematic visual thought process to create a children’s book cover. The session will begin with an intensive segment on basic design, then followed by a step by step drawing exercise to create characters within their environment. The illustrations will then be paired with a title to create a the look and feel of real cover-art. Students will be encouraged to use Sendak’s sensibilities as a means to explore a variety of mediums. All needed materials are included in the price of the workshop. Participation in this workshop is $25 for non-members and $18 for members (includes museum admission for the day), and the number of participants will be capped at 25 individuals. In order to reserve your spot in the April 26th Illustration workshop, please use the registration button below.
